Wedding season has officially arrived. Bring on the bachelorette parties, garter tosses and dress fittings. Whether you are the maid of honor, mother of the bride, or a groomsman’s plus one it is important to be prepared every step of the way. TEAMfabulous has compiled our favorite pointers to help you be the ultimate wedding guest.
RSVP: The first important step is to RSVP. Aren’t sure you can make it? It’s better to say, “No” than to keep the bride and groom waiting. We recommend keeping the invitation tucked in your planner until you RSVP... a reminder is always helpful!
Dress Code: Most invitations will specify dress code… please do your best to follow it. If you aren’t sure what is appropriate, ask. Remember there will be pictures taken, probably a lot of them, you don’t want to be the person in the background wearing jeans and flannel. Ladies use this as an opportunity to buy that dress you’ve been eyeing (stay away from ivory and white).
Travel: If you have to travel to attend the wedding, bachelorette party or bridal shower, book the hotel in advance. Typically, there will be rooms reserved for wedding guests for a short time before the wedding. It is important to plan who is driving or where you are staying in advance. You don’t want to have to crash in someone else’s suite.Gifts: The general rule is to spend the amount the bride and groom spent for you to attend the wedding. Typically the cost per person is $150-$200. Remember, the invitation will tell you where the couple is registered. ALWAYS shop from the registry.
